September 2018 News!!

A day late and several dollars short… our new (and last for awhile!) baby Zeus vom Goldbergsee arrived at our home in Canada from Germany on August 31, 2018. It’s been a busy few days getting him on Atlantic time and establishing his place in the pack.

It’s been an exciting weekend in Germany as the Deutsche Meisterschaft for Riesenschnauzers was held on September 1 & 2. The winner was Zeus’ daddy Xaro von der Schonburg! In third place was Zia’s aunt, Kara-Mia vom Lindelbrunn!

Also in family success, Rogue’s uncle Nelson vom Klingsgarten won the FH competition (highest degree in Tracking!) in Germany.

More details can be seen on our Von Der Leidenschaft Giant Schnauzers Facebook page!

August 2018 News!

Happy to report our Glock von der Leidenschaft, Jade von der Leidenschaft, and our German import Rogue vom Klingsgarten, have all been cleared of Dilated Cardiomyopathy via DNA testing. Results should be available soon on each dog’s listing at The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals.

Our newest baby, Zia vom Lindelbrunn will be tested once her registration papers arrive from Germany.

Stay tuned next week for another announcement! 😉

Kricket is SOLD!

And then there were none!
Happy/sad to report Kricket will leave for her forever home in the US early August.
Blue remains in our care until the fall when she can head to Bermuda.

Princess Zia is in the house!

Zia vom LindelbrunnFresh off the plane from Germany, Zia is our newest addition. She will begin her IPO training immediately, and upon successful completion of health tests, will join our breeding program. We are excited for this new addition, and grateful to Gerhard and Heide Funck for trusting us with one of their own. We hope you will follow Zia’s progress here, on Facebook, and on Working Dog.

Kree von der Leidenschaft is SOLD!

Excited to announce that our beautiful Kree has been spoken for. She will move to her new home in the U.S. early in May.

We still have some beauties available. Leash training begins this week once the snow is off the training field.

April 4, 2018

Life is still very busy at Leidenschaft Kennels, and as we’ve always done, we’re keeping our heads up and looking at the positives!

We’re excited to get back on the training field with our club members at The Sirius Working Dog Association. This last week of mild weather should have the field bare in days! We’ll have lots of extra hands on deck to begin leash work, prey bite work, and tracking with “the K-girls”. It’s been an absolute pleasure to have the extra time with these babies. We’re privileged to see their personalities develop as they mature.

Ron will be announcing very soon, his training locations and start dates for Level One obedience classes. We’re just waiting for Momma N and Old Man Winter to settle their annual battle before we set a firm date.

We’re looking forward to clearing health tests for another member of our pack to announce future breeding plans. As we’ve always done in the past, any matings we make now, and in the future, will be done in consultation with our veterinary team, and of course meet the recommendations by the Orthopedic Foundation For Animals.

Stay tuned for more updates this month! 🙂
